 At
the CGF Assembly in November 2003 Delhi won the right
to host the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
It will be only the second time that an Asian country
has hosted the Games, with Kuala Lumpar being the
first in 1998.
The Commonwealth Games have been held
every four years (except for 1942 and 1946 due to World
War II) and have grown from 400 athletes at the inaugural
Games in Hamilton, Ontario in 1930 to 8,500 athletes
for the next Games in Delhi, India in 2010.

3-14 October 2010 has 17
sports on the program - Archery, Aquatics,
Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Hockey,
Lawn Bowls, Netball, Rugby 7s, Shooting, Squash, Table
Tennis, Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling.
The program will also include Elite
Athletes with a Disability (EAD) Events.
